Dylan showcased his culinary prowess with a homemade Spanish dinner, earning Lina’s compliments. She hesitated and in the end, didn’t voice her thoughts on Laura should probably move out.
The bond between Dylan and Laura was unique, akin to a star and their agent–mutual care was part of the package.
They often shared living spaces, a common practice in showbiz. Lina, considering this, chose silence.
Laura broke the Lull.
“Mom will come to my place after we eat.”
Her apartment was modest, a 100-square-meter space with an excellent location and a vintage charm.
Post-announcement, Dylan casually suggested, “There’re plenty of rooms here. Mrs. Garcia could stay.”

Laura’s response was a soft, “I’d like to return to my apartment.”
Dylan remained silent, giving Laura a long look.
Sensing the tension, Lina interjected with a light-hearted diversion, “I’m sure I’ll be more comfortable at Laura’s. Dylan, would you mind taking me shopping tomorrow?”
He accepted, a way to ease the momentary discomfort.
Dylan had momentarily lost his composure. He wasn’t Laura’s partner, after all, and had no place making demands.
Lina let out a discreet sigh of relief.
Mealtime passed, and as they prepared to leave, Dylan helped Laura pack in the guest room. He neatly folded her clothes and placed them in the suitcase, teasing, “Clumsy.”
Laura watched him, a silent exchange passing between them.
Regaining his equilibrium, Dylan patted her head.
“Enjoy your time with your mom.”
He carefully packed her medications, each bottle labeled with dosage instructions he had written himself.
Laura’s voice was a whisper.
“You don’t need to go out of your way for me, Dylan.”
Dylan’s voice carried a rough edge.
“I’m just looking after my primary cash cow, okay?”
He lifted her luggage with a quick motion and made his way downstairs.
