He knew Alexis wouldnt probe James. Even if she sensed something, she refused to be the jealous type. More importantly, she didnt love him anymore.
Just the thought of his strained relationship with Alexis made Leonel a little sad.
True to form, Alexis didnt push further. She simply turned away, silent. Leonel wrapped his arms around her slender frame and asked softly, Are you mad at me?
Then, after a beat, he added, You know Im always faithful, right?
In the darkness, Alexis responded casually, Thats enough. Im tired.

Early in the morning.
When Alexis woke up, Leonel had already gotten up and left the room.
In his place was a delicate little box, placed beside his pillow.
Alexis sat up and opened it.
Inside was a delicate diamond necklace. It had a simple design, which was very much to her taste. She knew it was a gift from Leonel, but she didnt understand why. Did he do something wrong? Was this sudden gift his way of apologizing?
Alexis stared at the necklace for a long while before closing the box and putting it on the bedside table.
Getting up, she went to the bathroom and washed up, and then changed her clothes. After putting on light makeup, she headed downstairs.
All the servants in the house had come back, and they were all busy with their own work. Breakfast was ready, served and laid out on the table. A vase at the center was filled with blue, dewy roses. They were of a rare variety and were especially freighted from abroad, all because Alexis liked them.
Leonel was sitting at the head of the table, reading a newspaper with his head down.
Upon hearing the servants greet Alexis, he raised his eyes and said softly, Come and have breakfast. We have to pick up Evelyn and Daniel later.
Alexis walked over and sat down.
