Chapter 1143

Excitedly, Elena responded, “It’s where I grew up. Mom and I used to live there, so I adore the Xeric Pack. I’ll show you all the cool spots once we’re there. I know them like the back of my hand.”

Dylan quickly got interested. With gleaming eyes, he exclaimed, “Awesome!”
Caleb glanced at the kids, smiled, then turned to me. “Debra, aren’t you thinking of visiting the Silver Ridge Pack first?”
I shook my head, explaining, “Let’s save the Silver Ridge Pack for later. No rush. I want to figure out why the doctor told me Dylan was dead and how Denise found him. Once I know that, I’ll finally find peace of mind.”

Dylan’s situation weighed heavily on me.
Gazing out the window, I saw the night sky. How would I navigate and uncover the truth?
“Caleb, I can’t shake the feeling that someone’s pulling the strings, leading us into trouble time and again,” I said solemnly. “Maybe the flower girl and the figure in black are being sent by someone.”
Debra’s POV:
Upon listening to what I said, Caleb’s expression turned serious.

He paused for a moment, then nodded, saying, “Alright, we’ll go check out the Xeric Pack first as you suggested. I’ll think about other stuff after sorting out Dylan’s situation.”
With that settled, we began our journey towards the Xeric Pack.
Time went by, and the dark night slowly faded into a hazy gray.
Eventually, the sun peeked over the horizon, casting light across the sky.
Dawn was upon us. Despite traveling for half a day, we were still far from reaching the Xeric Pack.
Both kids were exhausted, feeling dizzy as they slumped in the backseat. Dylan’s situation was worse. He was quite weak. Plus, he hardly ever left home since he was a kid. This was his first time travelling all night long, and he seemed very tired.
However, according to the navigation, we still had a long way to go before reaching the Xeric Pack.
After some thought, I suggested, “Caleb, you’ve been driving for a while now, and you’re getting tired. It might be best to take a break to avoid the risk of an accident. Plus, the kids need some rest. We can continue driving once we’re all refreshed. No need to rush.”

Caleb noticed the kids’ exhaustion too, so he agreed without hesitation.
We pulled over in a grassy spot surrounded by trees. Caleb carried the kids out of the car and onto the grass while I fetched the food he had packed earlier.
“Let’s eat,” I said, handing out food and drinks to the kids, making sure they got enough to replenish their energy.
The four of us sat on the grass, enjoying our meal and admiring the sky.
“Wow, it’s so beautiful!” Elena exclaimed.
As the morning breeze rustled through, the dawn light slowly uncovered the night’s silver cover, adorned with delicate white clouds. The sky split open like a sword, releasing a burst of golden light that painted everything in shades of red. It was a breathtaking sight.
We basked in the warm sunlight.
