My heart dropped, and I responded icily, “And then? What went down?”
She answered in a shaky voice, “Eduardo managed to save the two kids, along with Debra and Caleb. The werewolves he brought along are tough, and Debra’s power is incredibly strong. We stood no chance against them. We had to run to avoid being caught and questioned.”
My expression darkened.
I never saw it coming. Right when I thought I had won, it was Eduardo, of all people, with his grudge against Debra, who threw everything off track.
