Trent paused, then said, “Dad really wants to meet you. You are his daughter, after all.”
Hannah scoffed, “So, I’m his daughter, and you two are his sons. He was gone when my mom was pregnant with me at home. Seems like his relationship with my mom wasn’t exactly honorable.”
The brothers fell silent at her words.
Hannah mocked, “Did he deceive my mom, leave her pregnant, and then run off abroad?”
“No, that’s not it!” Trent hurriedly clarified, “We share a father but.. Our parents are actually adoptive, not biological. You’ll find out soon enough.
There’s no point in hiding it now.” They then shared the whole story with her.

Trent chimed in, “You’re planning to go to Newfort, right? Come with us and meet Dad.”
Hannah felt nothing when she heard the word “dad.”
Wyatt, her adoptive dad, was pretty lousy at the job. He used her for his own goals. And now, her real dad wanted to meet her. It was no surprise Hannah was overthinking things.
She quickly turned down Trent’s offer, saying, “We never saw each other and I don’t see why we need to meet now. I’ve got more important stuff to do in Newfort. Sorry, but I can’t come back with you to see him.”
