Chapter 1324

---

Maloney gave Joselyn a cold look and warned, “Joselyn, I’m telling you once more. If you keep spouting nonsense, you won’t be considered the Compton family’s adopted daughter any longer!”
Joselyn was scared by his response. She shivered and stepped back, whispering softly, “I didn’t mean to cause trouble…”
“The decision for the Compton family to unite with the Pierce family was made after Hannah returned. How does that involve you? Yes, I don’t want to be caught in a trap of proving myself, but if someone tries to provoke me, I will not let her off easily!”
Joselyn, realizing her mistake, remained quiet and stayed in the background.
With Maloney’s influence, no one else dared to speak further.
Moreover, Maloney’s earlier words planted a seed of doubt in their minds.

It was late at night and everyone was exhausted. They started making excuses to leave.
Noticing that Rhett was still there, Maloney raised an eyebrow and asked, “What’s the matter? Do you need something else?”
Rhett glanced at his sister. “Elsa?”

As Remington stayed silent, Elsa bit her lip and suggested, “Let’s go back.”
One by one, the others departed. Hannah, standing behind Maloney and Remington, locked eyes with Bryson, who lingered in the winding corridor.
Feeling a twinge of guilt under Bryson’s stare, she quickly looked away.
After speaking, Maloney turned to see Hannah standing quietly behind him. He noticed her submissive demeanor and a smirk crossed his face, realizing she was now playing nice.
Remington also turned and noticed Hannah looking down. He thought she was upset by Elsa’s words. His expression darkened, but he chose not to say anything comforting.
Instead, he turned to Maloney and said, “The security staff is out looking for the attacker. Even if he tries to escape, he won’t be able to leave this place. We’ll definitely catch him.”
Maloney shrugged his shoulders and responded to Remington with indifference, “I don’t mind. I’m not the one who was injured. But if this happens again, the elders will certainly not tolerate it. And if you fail to catch him, you might be the one held responsible.’
Remington understood Maloney’s implication. His expression turned serious. “The injured person’s family have been moved to a safer villa. All the guards are there. Nothing will happen tonight.”
“I hope that’s the case.”
Maloney gave Remington a sly smile and patted Hannah’s shoulder.
“Let’s go. I’ll walk you upstairs.”
Hannah glanced up at Remington silently, then turned and followed Maloney upstairs.
After ascending two steps, Hannah whispered to Maloney, “Are the people downstairs still watching us?”
Pretending to glance downward casually, Maloney covered his mouth with his fist and coughed. “Yes, they’re still watching.”
They continued upstairs slowly, side by side. Hannah did not look down again, and the submissive look on her face disappeared.
