She was wearing a delicate, apricot dress that complimented her fair skin. Her balance seemed to be off for some reason, seeing as how she launched herself into Bryson’s arms without hesitation.
Eliana had seen Bryson go upstairs a while ago. When she realized that he wasn’t coming down any time soon, she came up with an idea.
She waited until the guests milling near her were not paying attention, then she sneaked upstairs and waited for the perfect opportunity to run into him “by accident”.
Eliana braced herself for the warm embrace she was sure would greet her. But instead of landing into a pair of strong arms, she staggered to the side and hit the cold, hard wall.

Eliana was practically trembling with excitement.
Before she could finish speaking, she felt his fingers tighten around her neck. She gasped and choked as she ran out of air.
But Bryson wasn’t done yet. He slammed her against the wall, his dark smile still in place as he watched her face turn purple.
His voice was cold and deep when he asked, “How dare you touch me?”
This time, when Eliana trembled, it was out of fear.
