Ariana caressed the figurine gently. A hint of sadness in her eyes as memories flooded through her mind. Then, with a wistful smile, she nodded and said, “Yes. Your daddy and I made these figurines together.
This one is your father, and this one is me.”
She picked up another matching figurine from the shelf and Lightly bumped it against the one Melon was holding.
Once again, Melon’s face brightened with enthusiasm. “Then, I want to make one with you, too, Mommy! We can put it here with Daddy’s!” he exclaimed.
Ariana smiled and stroked her son’s hair. “Of course, we’ll go make you one as soon as we have time.” She made a firm promise to her son.
Ariana’s words and her countenance whenever she talked about the past filled Melon’s mind with so many thoughts. He peered up at his mother with curiosity. Then, he asked, “Mommy, what were you and Daddy like together?”
Ariana was temporarily lost in memories. With a wry chuckle, she said, “When we first met, your daddy had quite the temper! He scowled constantly…”
Ariana slowly recounted happy moments from the past, and Melon listened to her with rapt attention. As he imagined his parents in his mind, his small hand tenderly cradled the Theodore figurine.
The mother and son spent the next couple days in the apartment. Even though the apartment was a bit old, after cleaning it up, it gave out a cozy environment. It felt so comfortable to the point that they were quite reluctant to leave its warmth and memories behind.
A few days later, everything came back to normal. Ariana dropped Melon off at kindergarten as usual, and after that, she decided to stop by the nearby supermarket. She wanted to make a special dinner for her son and needed to buy some ingredients. Coincidentally, Judy was also at the supermarket, buying daily necessities, and the two bumped into each other.
Judy’s face immediately lit up at the sight of Ariana. Then, she started striking up a lively conversation. The two women continued strolling together.
“Looks like your cooking skills have become better lately. It is a good thing,” Judy said.
Ariana smiled. “Well, with a growing boy to feed, I had to learn.
Melon needs balanced nutrition.”

“Melon is so adorable. Oh, when can you bring him with you to visit Mr. Chadwick again? He misses Melon a lot, even if he won’t admit it outright. Whenever he has free time, he looks at pictures of Melon,”
Judy said.
“Probably in a couple days, after Melon is done with school,” Ariana replied.
The two women filled their shopping trolley with all sorts of groceries. After making a payment at cashier, they walked together to the parking lot, each pulling a trolley of their own.
As they walked, Judy carefully looked at Ariana’s face. Her friend looked relaxed with a contented smile. Then, the encounter at the hospital that day came to her mind, making her feel conflicted whether to tell Ariana or not. After thinking for a while, she decided to tell Ariana because she felt that she would no longer be able to keep that to herself. Just as Ariana was about to leave, Judy stopped her.
“What’s wrong?” Ariana Looked back at Judy in confusion.
