“Miley…” Stella’s words trailed off into the silence.
Matthew asked, “What’s going on?”
Brushing off his hand, Stella quickly briefed him, “Miley called me just now and kept crying. I don’t know what happened. I’m heading there to find out.”
Without hesitation, Matthew offered, “I’ll drive you.”
They dressed swiftly and set off for the address Miley had provided.
Upon arrival, Stella spotted Miley crouched beside the street. She hurriedly alighted from the car and enveloped Miley in an embrace, draping her coat over her. “Miley, it’s alright. You’re safe now.”
Miley’s crying intensified, her eyes puffy. When she saw Stella, she cried even louder. Clutching Stella, she whimpered, “Stella…”
Once Miley had somewhat regained her composure, Stella probed, “What happened? Why are you out here alone at night?”
Miley merely shook her head, wordless.
