Undeterred, Elizabeth brushed off the arrangement. To her, it was merely a pretext.
With tepid gratitude, she acknowledged him. Andrew, offering only a disdainful glance, made no further attempt at conversation, opting instead to depart.
Observing this, Elizabeth approached him and intercepted his departure. “Wait, I have another request.”
Andrew frowned. He was getting more and more impatient.
He asked, “What else?”

But Elizabeth didn’t care about it at all. “I heard from Mom that you are going to Matthew’s wedding in Seamarsh. Is it true?”
Andrew didn’t know why she suddenly asked this. He frowned and nodded.
“Yes. Is something wrong?”
Of course, Elizabeth wouldn’t let this opportunity slip. She quickly said, “I’m going to attend that wedding too. I want you to be my plus-one.”

She met his gaze without fear and retorted, “That project is so important, but you still promised me a role. Now, I only want you to be my plus-one. Why are you so reluctant?”
She paused and smiled. “Or, is there another reason why you don’t want to be my plus-one? Andrew, it’s been a long time. Haven’t you moved on? Do you still care about the past?”

The expression on Andrew’s face suddenly changed. He pinched her chin even harder and looked coldly at her painful expression.
