For the first time in his life, he felt utterly flustered.
Stella couldn’t take the awkward silence anymore.

Matthew immediately snapped out of his trance, hurriedly asking, “How is work going? I mean Donn’s art exhibition.”
“I’m done with the plan. I’ll give it to you tomorrow,” Stella answered in a serious tone, seeing as his question was work-related.

They fell into silence again.
It was very awkward, but Matthew didn’t hang up.
Stella remembered Matthew got hurt trying to save her that afternoon, so she asked, “Uh, how is your arm now, Mr. Clark?”
When she got back to the company, she was swamped with work.
She only found out that Fernando didn’t come back after taking Matthew to the hospital when she was about to clock out.
Just the thought alone made her feel guilty.

“It’s a lot better.” Matthew realized that he sounded very uninterested and added, “According to the doctor, you did a good job on it and was able to deal with it in time.”
Stella was relieved.

He hung up, his heart feeling warm.
