“You seem so scared. Why? Have you forgotten all about last night?”
Stella asked calmly, “Anything go down last night? Lately, my memory’s been a bit hazy. Why don’t you fill me in?”
Jeremy’s expression soured, and he clenched his jaw.
“Are you going back on your word?”
Stella grinned innocently.
“I’m not quite sure what you’re getting at.
If you’ve got nothing else to say, I’ve got work waiting. I’ll be heading out now.”

“You signed the contract and pocketed the check. Isn’t that proof enough?” Jeremy retorted, enunciating each word deliberately.
Stella’s face lit up with sudden understanding.

Jeremy arched an eyebrow slightly, his smugness interrupted by Stella.
“But have you thoroughly reviewed the contract?” Stella gently reminded him.
“I’ve already handed the check to Mr. Clark, along with the explanation that it’s your hard-earned money for the company. If you wish to retrieve it, you might need to have a word with Mr. Clark.”

“I personally crafted that contract. How could there be an issue?”
