Nikolai chuckled skeptically, clearly not buying Matthew’s denial.

“She has real talent. She might outpace me soon.”
Sensing that Stella was about to return, Matthew chose not to prolong the debate.
He conceded, “If that’s what you believe, fine, but keep your distance.”
